Schaendorf Brewery-Allegan, Michigan
The Wightman Architecture and Interior Design teams enjoyed working with Schaendorf Brewery, located in historic downtown Allegan, Michigan, to provide a vibrant, bustling restaurant in the center of town.
Wightman provided architecture services by assisting the Owner in developing designs for the expansion of the restaurant and new brewery. Designs translated into the creation of permittable construction documents that met all applicable building codes. The team assisted the Owner with permitting; coordinated the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering; and provided additionally engineering services for the remodeled areas and outdoor deck. Exterior design solutions had to meet and maintain approvals previously granted by the city's historic commission.
The Wightman Interiors team worked closely with the client to understand the intended visioning that they hoped to achieve. By collecting that initial information, the Interiors team was able to align their visioning, including finish and furniture recommendations, with the client's wants and needs. Because they were merging an existing restaurant space with the newly renovated brewery and dining space, it was crucial to provide a sense of cohesion and unity between the two. To accomplish this, the design team pulled finish options that enhanced the existing space while also providing a fresh, new look to the entry/meat market space to draw in the community and engage diners as soon as they step foot in the door
Schaendorf Brewery is certainly a vibrant, beautiful, welcome addition to the Allegan downtown business district. Cheers!
