New Buffalo Schools-New Buffalo, Michigan
Wightman’s Interiors team worked jointly with representatives of New Buffalo Area Schools (NBAS) to transform the common spaces shared by the middle and high school and update twelve elementary classrooms. In the high and middle schools, the goal was to update common area lounge seating, providing flexible furniture with durable materials to withstand the wear and tear of high traffic spaces. In the large common space, centralized between the gymnasium, auditorium, and library, bar height stools were added to accommodate existing tables as well as perimeter lounge seating and a central chair grouping, offering ease of arrangement. For the elementary, teachers expressed a need to add active learning seating options, such as wobble stools and floor rockers, into their classrooms. Wightman helped NBAS track teacher preferences and quantities and provided a furniture bid package that could be competitively bid.
