Gull/Ransom Streets Roundabout-Kalamazoo, Michigan
This City of Kalamazoo project scope included the removal of existing intersection of Gull/Ransom Streets and Harrison Street and construction of roundabout. Placement of new subbase, base, asphalt, concrete curb, sidewalk, slope restoration, pavement markings, signs, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water main on Gull/Ransom from Walbridge east to the Bridge over the Kalamazoo River, Caves Court, Harrison Street from the railroad tracks to North Street, and on North Street from Harrison Street east to Gull Street. Specific utility improvements include: placement of 600’ of 42-inch sanitary sewer interceptor in Ransom Street from Walbridge Street to Harrison Street, replacement of 2200’ of 8-inch and 850’ of 12-inch water main and all water services, and 700’ of storm sewer in the intersection to connect to the existing storm outlets.
The Wightman Survey team established horizontal and vertical control related to the original topographic survey prepared by others, determined existing right of way lines and property lines within the project limits, provided supplemental topographic information as needed during the design phase of the project, provided horizontal and vertical control for machine-controlled grading and construction layout by excavation contractor, provided construction layout as needed to aid inspector with quality checks, and prepared legal descriptions and exhibits for acquiring additional public right of way.
