Lane Automotive’s new 200,000 square foot distribution center will enhance their reputation as the world’s premier racing enthusiasts’ supply center by decreasing order processing time and overhead costs. 

The Wightman team was tasked with designing and developing construction documents set for the facility expansion project. The design required close coordination with the warehouse inventory system vendor, operations manager, and marketing department. To showcase the Client’s racing expertise, a key design feature of this building is the attention grabbing showroom in the northwest corner that is easily visible from Interstate 94. This space promotes vendors and displays completed specialty vehicles, all in an effort to get a potential customer's imagination revving.

Changes were required for zoning and streets were vacated. The aggressive project schedule required pre-ordering the building’s steel, before construction documents were completed, so it would arrive when the foundations were formed and set.
