Prototype House

This project is part of an ongoing effort by the Community Action of Allegan’s Dual Community Development Program to provide affordable housing and develop the workforce in Allegan County, Michigan. Partnering with Michigan Career and Technical Institute, they are providing training for high school students and adults in the building trades. This prototype home design will be used as part of this effort. Students receive hands on experience while addressing the need for affordable housing. This SIPS (Structurally Insulated Panels) home will be part of the solution.

The one- or two-bedroom home is ADA accessible and can be easily adapted to any site as the pier foundation allows for flexibility. Durable, low-maintenance materials and energy efficient systems are utilized throughout the customizable floor plan. Office space or additional living areas are options.
