McIntosh Park-Albion, Michigan

Let’s play! Through a generous financial donation by the de Nicola Family, the City of Albion was positioned to provide substantial improvements at McIntosh Park. The park, named after the City’s first African American councilman, was completely transformed by Wightman’s Landscape Architecture and Engineering departments.

Located at State Street and Hoaglin Drive, the park has become a place to frolic, engage, and relax. The stunning splash pad allows children - and adults! - of all ages and abilities the opportunity to engage in healthy summer playtime. New seating and lighting allow for rest breaks and safety. The addition of a covered pavilion encourages togetherness in the outdoors, whether it’s a family having a birthday celebration or a couple enjoying a picnic in the park. New playground equipment allows for exercise, sliding, and soaring toward the sky.

Funding has been secured for the next phase and the additions will include a multi-purpose trail, lighting, a second parking lot, landscaping, and other amenities.

At Wightman, we believe “it’s all about people.” This is another perfect project where our staff and their work embody our mission.
