Wightman’s Philip Doorlag promoted to Regional Director

Wightman, an employee-owned consulting firm offering architecture, civil engineering, and surveying services, is pleased to announce Philip Doorlag, a licensed professional engineer with the company, has been named Regional Director of its Kalamazoo office.

Doorlag is a Kalamazoo native. He graduated high school from Heritage Christian Academy in the city and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Western Michigan University in 2015. Among his professional affiliations, Doorlag is a Southwest Michigan First Council of 100 member, Southwest Michigan First Public Policy committee member, and City of Kalamazoo Complete Streets Advisory Committee member.

Doorlag has 15 years of experience in survey and civil engineering with expertise in transportation design, road reconstruction and rehabilitation, and asset management planning. He began his career at Wightman in September 2006 when he joined the survey department as a field technician. He was subsequently promoted to construction inspection before joining the engineering team where he has acted as a project engineer and project manager on several high-profile street reconstruction and rehabilitation projects in Kalamazoo involving Cork Street, Oakland Drive, and Portage Street. He also has ten years’ experience working with the Michigan Department of Transportation working on Local Agency Projects.
