Wightman’s Growing Environmental Team Offers Additional Services

Wightman welcomes three new staff members to its Environmental Team of professionals in its Benton Harbor and Kalamazoo offices.


Logan Jones of St. Joseph, Michigan, joined Wightman as an Environmental Biologist and is based in Wightman’s Benton Harbor office. He brings a strong background in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem management with a focus on wetlands and wildlife to the position.  He interned at Wightman for two years while he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in National Resource Management from Grand Valley State University.  


Christopher Gothberg of Portage, Michigan, joins the Wightman’s Environmental Team in the Benton Harbor office as an Environmental Specialist. A U.S. Army Veteran, he was previously employed as an Environmental Health Specialist for both Kalamazoo County and Calhoun County Health Departments. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Analysis and Resource Management from Western Michigan University.


Marc Hatton of Kalamazoo, Michigan, has been hired as a Project Manager for the Environmental Team in Wightman’s Kalamazoo office. He has worked as a field hydrogeologist for Wilkins & Wheaton/Prein & Newhoff and as the development manager for the City of Kalamazoo and PlazaCorp Realty Advisors. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Field Hydrogeology from Western Michigan University. Marc brings a wealth of knowledge related to planning and brownfield redevelopment programs, to the organization and clients whom we serve.


The Wightman Environmental Team has expanded to focus on managing environmental projects related to Due Diligence, Soil Assessments, Industrial Hygiene, Compliance, Brownfield Redevelopment, and Natural Resources. Wightman internal staff and field personnel can assist and advise clients through project planning and permitting, implementation and close-out. With their diverse backgrounds, training and experience, the growing Environmental Team can address any questions, issues or requests that clients and stakeholders may have, in an efficient and economically prudent manner.


Specific environmental services offered by Wightman include ecological assessments (wetlands, species at risk, invasive species, terrestrial and aquatic) and mitigation planning, compliance audits and protection plans, environmental site assessments, brownfield redevelopment, indoor environment inspections and inventories (asbestos, radon, lead and mold), pollution incident prevention plans, sediment and erosion control plans, storm-water compliance plans, hydrogeological investigations, underground storage tank site characterization, soil investigations, geotechnical assessments, dredging and solid waste permitting, ISO:14001:2015 audit and gap analysis.
