Wightman's Landscape Architect Ben Baker discusses the importance of a landscape ordinance for a community. Here is an excerpt from the article: 

Ben Baker is a member of the St. Joseph Township Planning Commission. He’s also a professional landscape architect.

So when it comes to beefing up the township’s zoning ordinance, working to develop a landscape ordinance is right up his alley.

“The positives are that commercial areas look better and parking lots have shade,” Baker said at a recent Planning Commission meeting at the township hall. “But like anything else, placing more requirements on people building things can put a financial burden on them.”
