Wightman Celebrates Industry Recognition for Frank Renaldi and Philip Doorlag

Wightman is proud to announce that two of its leaders have recently received industry honors recognizing their professional excellence, leadership, and commitment to the communities they serve.

Frank Renaldi, PE, senior civil engineer and project manager at Wightman, has been named the recipient of the Franklin D. Meyers Outstanding Civil Engineer of the Year Award by the Michigan Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Wightman is also celebrating the recognition of Philip A. Doorlag, PE, regional director, and his recent naming as a Crain’s Grand Rapids Notable Leader in Architecture, Engineering & Construction.

Renaldi’s ASCE award recognizes civil engineers who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement, leadership, and service to the engineering profession.

With more than 30 years of experience in civil engineering, Renaldi has built a distinguished career helping communities and clients develop critical infrastructure improvements throughout Southwest Michigan. His expertise spans municipal engineering, site development, and long-range planning projects that have enhanced the quality of life for residents across the region.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Renaldi has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to advancing the engineering profession through leadership and service. He currently serves as president of the ASCE Southwest Michigan Branch and has dedicated countless hours to mentoring future engineers and supporting professional development opportunities within the industry. Additionally, he is the current president of Kiwanis Club of Kalamazoo and is the first repeat president of the organization in over 100 years.

Doorlag was selected for the Crain’s honor based on his professional accomplishments, leadership within the industry, and lasting impact on communities throughout West Michigan. During his career, he has played a key role in delivering transformative infrastructure and community development projects while fostering strong client relationships and mentoring the next generation of professionals.

A lifelong advocate for community growth and development, Doorlag is known for his passion for helping communities identify opportunities, solve challenges, and build for the future. His leadership has helped shape projects that strengthen local economies, improve public infrastructure, and enhance quality of life throughout the region.
