Practice Area Leader - Environmental

Gary joined Wightman’s Kalamazoo office in 2019 as an environmental project manager. He brings more that 27 years of experience to the role of providing practical solutions and advice to clients that minimize environmental impacts while addressing their needs. As a licensed professional geologist, he has a responsibility to uphold the public health and safety in the performance of professional services and to protect the environment. Gary has worked on numerous longer term projects which have required a higher level of hydrogeologic interpretation and analysis.

  • Managing, supervising, and conducting: hydrogeologic remedial investigations 
  • Underground storage tank (UST) removals 
  • Soil and groundwater remediation projects 
  • Landfill investigations 
  • Building demolition 
  • Vapor intrusion (VI) assessments 
  • VI mitigation systems 
  • Preparation of the following reports: Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs); Baseline Environmental Assessments (BEAs); Documentation of Due Care Compliance Plans; Remedial Action Plans (RAPs); Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs); Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs) 
  • Knowledge of the following regulations: Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) Public Act 451 Parts 201, 213, 115 Programs;  Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP)
